This musical group is called Travis Porter. This is an American hip hop group trio from Atlanta, Georgia that consists of stepbrothers Quez and Ali, and their friend Strap who they met in middle school. In November of 2010, the trio signed a contract with Jive Records.
The group has released some amazing music over the years. Some of their greatest hits are Ayy Ladies, Bring it Back and Make It Rain. The songs were produced by longtime collaborators called FKi, a production group.
Travis Porter went ahead and released a biographical film called Proud to be a Problem on the 18th of May, 2010. They also have a YouTube channel and they have managed to attract over 150 million views.
The full names of the group’s members are; Lakeem “Ali” Grant, Donquez “Quez” Woods and Harold “Strap” Duncan. The group started out at a young age and was originally known as the Hard Hitters but later changed their name to increase marketability.
With their new name, the group was now able to tour across USA before they expanded their shows internationally. In USA, the group performed in numerous cities and states and went ahead to perform in countries like Kaiserslautern, Bamberg and Germany.
The group became incredibly successful after the release of their mixtapes and expanding the amount of their performances. The group has released quite a lot of songs over the years.
It also got the opportunity to perform with Drake at BMI’s Unsigned Artist showcase in Atlanta. Even though the group was still not signed at the time, they were able to perform with popular artists like Roscoe Dash, Fast Life Yungstaz and WakaFlocka Flame. The group was featured on MTV Jams and received the Number Unsigned Group Title from MySpace.
In 2010, their non-album single called Go Shorty Go entered the Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop chart and recently joined the Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI). After some time, fellow rapper Gucci Mane expressed an interest in signing Travis Porter to 1017 Brick Squad Records but the group eventually decided to go with Jive Records.
On the 22nd of December, 2010, the trio released their debut single called Make It Rain. On the 7th of October, 2011, RCA Music Group announced the disbandment of Jive Records together with Arista Records and J Records. With this occurrence, the artists signed by these companies (including Travis Porter) announced that they would be working with RCA Records.
In 2012, In 2012, they managed to release their third single called Ayy Ladies together with their fellow rapper, Tyga. The single peaked at position 56 on the Billboard Hot 100 and then topped the Top Heatseekers Songs charts, becoming their most successful song to date. On the 29th of May, 2012, the group released their debut album called From Day 1 which charted at number 16 on the US Billboard 200 and number 2 on the Top Rap Albums charts.
The group released their 11thmixtape called Mr. Porter on the 5th of March, 2013 followed by their 12thmixtape called Music Money Magnums 2 on the 3rd of June 2014. They dropped another mixtape on the 15th of April, 2015 called 3 Live Krewwhose cover is based on the album called As Nasty as they Wanna Be by 2 Live Crew.
The trio received the praise it deserves when they were awarded at the 2010s Underground Music Awards in New York City together with other artists like J.Cole. Other than that, they were also nominated for the Most Dynamic Rap Group Duo.
